Dubbed as the most exclusive development in the county by The Limerick Leader, The Heritage on the Blackabbey Road in Adare had a lot to live up to before MyHome.ie arrived for a look around recently.
To cut a long story short, it didn’t disappoint.
Estate agents can sometimes be accused of over-selling a development but this stunning enclave of nine luxurious homes does the talking for itself.
With the Ryder Cup on the way to the nearby Adare Manor in 2026, the town is set to thrive for years to come. The Heritage is located just a short stroll away from all that Adare has to offer but far enough away from the hustle and bustle that it brings peace, quiet and an immediate sense of relaxation.
On arrival, you couldn’t but be impressed by the stylish finish of these stunning four bed homes which have been lovingly crafted by Ardfoy Investments (LMK) Ltd. Directors of Ardfoy Gerard Sheehan and Denis McEnery were there to greet us and their pride in these homes was evident immediately. Words are one thing but the Ger, Denis and their team backed it up by building homes which are amongst the best finished we’ve ever come across.
No expense has been spared on these properties and with flooring, tiles, paint, wardrobes, showers etc all included, all you really need is some furniture to be ready to move in.
Before you ever open the front door, you know from the outside that you’re about to enter something a little special. The driveways can cater for a large number of cars while the gardens are spacious and well-finished. An outside shed (that word doesn’t do it justice), built to the same standard as the house itself is a welcome addition that is so often lacking in homes nowadays.
Inside the homes are even more impressive. While much of this is down the build quality, what makes the feature show house so extraordinary is the styling by Caroline Finnegan of Instyle Interiors.
Based in Listowel, Co Kerry, Caroline has a wealth of experience in interior design and project management and she put it all to use here to craft a truly enviable home with many pieces from her own collection and others from an array of local distributors.
So impressive was her work, in fact, that Hazel Noone, marketing manager of selling agents REA O’Connor Murphy fell in love with her idea for the runner carpet on the stairs by getting it installed in her own home by Tony Grant of Limerick-based Tower Carpet & Vinyls.
“‘I was delighted to see local suppliers involved and to take some styling tips from Caroline,” said Hazel.
When you enter the property, its quality shines through from the outset. To your left is a room which has been laid out as a home office with curtains designed by Caroline to match the wallpaper. Opposite this is a living room which has a sofa customised by Caroline to match the colour scheme that immediately has you feeling at home.
There is a base tone of grey Colourtrend paints running throughout the house and from there Caroline’s imagination brings each room to life.
“This illustrates to buyers how they can individualise it and put their own mark on a home,” she said.
Throughout this house it is the little touches that make it feel homely and the frame around the mounted TV as well as the selection of fabrics for pillows and curtains make you wish you could just put your feet up immediately and chill out. Everything in this house has been well thought out. From the customised books to match the colour schemes of each rooms, to the lamp shades designed by Amanda Christie Designs, nothing has been overlooked.
It’s the little touches that Caroline adds that makes this amazing home even more special and one of these can be found in the downstairs WC where a huge mirror with backlighting – arranged by her – gives the feeling of luxury. Indeed, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in a high end hotel rather than a downstairs loo when you enter.
Quite often storage can be an issue when you visit a new home but at The Heritage. Aside from the aforementioned outdoor shed, there is a sizeable cloakroom in the corridor leading to the downstairs WC, ample room to the side of the stairs, a Stira leading to the attic of the house while even the plant room has shelving units installed which would be handy for storing the likes of towels and an array of other items.
The utility room off the spacious kitchen/dining/living area also offers plenty of storage as well as side access to the property. A neat feature here is also the raised washing machine and dryer.
Those little touches are what makes this house stand out from so many other show houses. Quite often many show houses are nice but impractical when it comes to living in. That isn’t the case in The Heritage.
Caroline – aided by husband John who carries out measuring and fitting services for Instyle Interiors – has really put her years of experience and know-how into this stunning house.
From commissioning pictures and frames, ordering customised furniture, curtains and fabrics, to adding subtle touches to each room with accessories from the likes of Molton Brown, Meadows & Byrne, Debenhams and Next, you can sense Caroline’s pride in her work as she walks us through each room.
The nursery is one room that can be quickly thrown together by a designer but not here. Her selection of Harlequin wallpaper allows for a gender and age neutral room that, cot aside, would be suitable for a boy or girl from birth right up to their teens.
It sums up Caroline’s dedication that she designed and scaled out a duvet cover for the cot to match the wallpaper with customised cushions and pillow covers commissioned from her curtain maker to keep the styling on track. Frames to bring the design all together with fabric from the curtains sums up the love that was put into this show house.
It’s easy to fall in love with The Heritage but the styling of this house really seals the deal. The panelling in the spacious landing is exquisite while it is equally impressive around the windows in many of the rooms and really stands out.
Two armchairs with a table stand for books in between make the landing almost like an extra room for relaxing in. Not that you need the space mind. Two of the three remaining bedrooms outside of the nursery have spacious walk-in wardrobes while all three of the rooms are en-suite.
The massive walk-in shower in the master bedroom is particularly impressive with the touch light mirrors further evidence that you’re not just in any run-of-the-mill home.
Most of the furniture in the house has been sourced through Caroline’s company Instyle Interiors with duvet covers from Bedeck and Romo and Harlequin wallpapers used to add real style to each room.
On this occasion, we undoubtedly saved the best until last though when we entered the hugely spacious kitchen/dining/living area that takes up the entire width of the rear of the house.
Again, this has been finished to the highest standards with the living area once again well laid out by Caroline and the dining table ready for guests with Villeroy & Boch cutlery and wine glasses.
The sun is shining on the day we’re there and you can’t help but marvel at the back garden, which boasts its own water feature. This is another area made for entertaining and you can imagine having friends and family over for a BBQ here. Of course, there’s still plenty of room for kids to play as well but then these houses just about cater for every possibility.
The Heritage is truly special. A dream home in every sense of the word.
The word ‘heritage’ is about where you come from and anybody would be proud to have one of these stunning homes as their address.
