And the end is here! The weather wasn’t the best but we successful completed our Cooley Garden Landscaping Project come rain or shine!
As with all our garden-landscaping projects and designs we combine the three elements style, strength and substance and in Cooley the design we created was of a balanced layout of sweeping forms and colourful planting.
We incorporated a lot of natural finishes i.e. natural stone for garden paving and garden walling both of which are long lasting, durable and also provide a beautiful finish. The raised beds add to the overall structure and include a broad range of plants to provide a softer balance to other elements of the hard landscaping.
You need to be pragmatic when selecting plants; they need to not only match your own colour preferences but also select types that have a height and spread growth characteristics compatible with available space. Good plant types for raised beds include ground cover favourites, to help reduce weeding, include Pachysandra terminalis, Persicaria Darjeeling Red, Fuchsia Sunray. Colourful fragrant favourites include Lavender Hidcote, Santolina and bee attracting flowers Scabiosa Pink Lady, Scabioisa Butterfly Blue and Scabios Perfecta. For an all year evergreen but attractive foliage, Cistus Little Miss Sunshine, Escallonia Red Dream, Convolvulus Cneorem, pinguifolia Pagei, Hebe Black Beauty.
In our Cooley Garden-Landscaping project we plants we used included;
- Leucanthemum ‘Snow Lady’
- Mixed planting of Scabiosa, Persicaria and Lavender ‘Little Lady’
- The silver grey tones of Hebe pinguifolia pagei – which will soften the limestone capping
- Scabiosa with paper like petals which flower for a very longtime
- Lavender Hidcote a reliable and delightfully colourful flower
- A twin plant border mix of convolvulus and lavender
